Monitoring My GAME Plan Progress

At this point, since I am spacing out the introduction of each technological resource to my students (1 per month), I have been pretty consistent with last week's progress. The students are becoming more familiar with using Webspiration and have created numerous concept maps to reflect their knowledge in reading and writing. I hope to branch off into incorporating math into this as well.

So far, I have been finding the information and resources needed to facilitate the learning for my students. The students have also been experimenting with Kidspiration as well. I am consistent with my goal of introducing 1 technological resource each month and am currently able to keep up with that task. No modifications to my plan are needed at this time. I have learned that incorporating technology into your lessons is far easier and less time consuming than I imagined. All it really takes is motivation and resources, which I am fortunate to have in my classroom. At this point, I do not have any questions or problems with my plan. I look forward to incorporating more tools to assist my students with their learning.

  1. Shannon,

The great thing about your timeline is that your students will steadily build technology skills throughout the year. At the same time, they can use the previously introduced tools in new ways, like using Webspiration in math, as you mention.

  2. Carolyn,
Thank you for mentioning that! Yes, I tried to space it out enough so that I could have some flexibility with teaching the material while the students could enhance their skills and feel proficient with using each type of technological resource. Just like you mentioned, I am hoping that the students will continue to build upon their use of various technologies so that they will have a choice in how they share their information. Thanks for your comments!

  3. Shannon,

It sounds like your plan is being implemented smoothly. I am wondering... have your students noticed the increased use of tools? Do they seem more engaged using the digital tools? What comments have they made? Have you noticed in increase in mastery of content using these activities?

  4. Molly,
I asked some really great questions. The students are definitely more engaged, motivated, and excited to work with technology. They enjoy sharing their newly learned skills with others in their classes as well. I don't know if they are aware of the increased technology (they haven't verbalized any significant changes), but they enjoy it while they use it. I have noticed that the students have been able to reflect more on their learning while using technology. It appears to be enhancing their learning, and I hope it continues with the new tools I will introduce to them soon!
    Thanks,
    Shannon
